Tin (IV ) iodide is an iodide of tin.
Production and representation
Tin (IV ) iodide can be obtained by direct synthesis from the elements or are obtained by heating an iodine with tin ( II) chloride solution.
Properties
Tin ( IV ) iodide is an orange solid which was hydrolyzed in water. To form a cubic close packing of iodine atoms are filled in the 1/8 of all the tetrahedral gaps with tin atoms, which leads to discrete tetrahedral SnI4 molecules.
