Tinkara Kovač

Tinkara Kovač ( born September 3, 1978 in Koper) is a Slovenian rock and pop singer and flutist.

Kovač studied classical flute at the Conservatory of Trieste. In 1997, she released her first album, which won her the Zlati - Petelin Prize, the most prestigious music award in Slovenia. In the same year she took part in the project Terry mystica, a crossover of world music, jazz and rock, for which she received two more Zlati - Petelin prices.

Her second album, released in 1999, was awarded several times and gained international attention. Their third album released Kovač, who was now also increasingly as a composer and lyricist of their titles active in the Slovenian EMI subsidiary Dallas Records. They were at the time up to 50 concerts a year and has performed with Carlos Núñez on German television.

She then worked with musicians such as Massimo Bubola and Paul Millns. A song of her album O-Range was at the International Songwriting Competition by a jury including Pat Metheny, BB King, Rob Thomas, Nile Rodgers, Arif Mardin and Jimmy Bralower belonged selected pop-rock of the ten best titles in the category.

After a concert with Ian Anderson 2004 Kovač special guest was on a concert tour of Jethro Tull by Italy, Croatia, Austria and Germany. In 2005 she joined with Italian singer Elisa Toffoli at a Koncert na meji on the Italian-Slovenian border in Gorizia on, the same year she was in St. Peter's Square in Rome, performing as a solo flutist with the Symphony Orchestra of the Vatican in front of 185,000 listeners.

2007 appeared Kovacs fifth album aQa with Ian Anderson as a guest.

On March 8, 2014 Kovač won with the song Spet ( Round and Round ) Slovenian preselection for the Euro Vision Song Contest 2014 Evrovizijska melodija and is thus represented Slovenia at the music competition.
