Tizi Ouzou Province

The Province Tizi Ouzou (Arabic تيزي وزو, DMG Tizi WAZU ) is a province ( wilaya ) in northern Algeria.

The province comprises the core region of Kabylia region, it lies on the Mediterranean coast east of the capital Algiers and has an area of 2,592 km ².

The population consists largely of Kabyles, Berber language spoken is the Kabyle. A total of approximately 1,167,000 people ( 2006 estimate ) live in the province, the population density is thus approximately 451 inhabitants per square kilometer.

The provincial capital is Tizi Ouzou.
