Tom Kimber-Smith

Thomas " Tom" Kimber -Smith ( born November 1, 1984 in Ascot, England ) is a British racing driver. He will start in 2012 in the European Le Mans Series ( ELMS ). He obtained in 2006, 2011 and 2012 class wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Career

Kimber -Smith began his motorsport career in 2000 in the T -Cars, the championship he won this season. In 2001, he debuted in Formula racing and competed in the British Formula Ford. After the 31 -ranked 2001, he finished sixth in the drivers' standings with two podium places in 2002. In the ensuing winter series of the British Formula Ford, he was runner-up behind Alx Danielsson. 2003 Kimber -Smith won five races in the British Formula Ford and became champion. He then took the team JLR participated in the winter series of the British Formula Renault and achieved the 15th Place.

Mid-2004 Kimber -Smith in the Formula 3 Euro Series for Team Kolles. While his team-mate Adrian Sutil was 17th with nine points, he was ranked 20th with two courts. 2005 Kimber -Smith returned back to Team JLR and competed in the British Formula Renault. He was with a podium placing twelfth in the driver standings. In addition, he took part in two races of the Dutch Formula Renault.

2006 left Kimber -Smith formula racing and moved to the GTs to the British Team LNT. He was in the GT2 class vice-champion of the British GT Championship. In addition, he made his debut at this year's 24 - hour race at Le Mans. Together with Richard Dean and Lawrence Tomlinson, he won the GT2 class of the race. Therefore, he started only in some races in the Rolex Sports Car Series, where he finished in 32nd place in the DP class, and to a race in the British GT championship in the GT4 championship. After he was no race in 2009, he took in 2010 to some races of the Spanish GT Championship part.

2011 received Kimber - Smith at Greaves Motorsport a cockpit for the Le Mans Series. Karim Ojjeh was consistently his team-mate, Gary Chalandon was replaced during the season by Olivier Lombard. Kimber -Smith and Ojjeh won together with Chalandon once and together with Lombard twice the LMP2 classification. Kimber -Smith and Ojjeh decided the LMP2 classification in itself. In addition, he participated together with Ojjeh and Lombard on 24 - hour race at Le Mans and won the LMP2 class of the race. 2012 remained Kimber - Smith at Greaves Motorsport. Alex Brundle and Lucas Ordoñez were his teammates. After the first race, the three were in fourth place in the LMP2 drivers championship, which is the highest category from this season.
