Tomás Regalado (Salvadoran politician)

Tomás Regalado ( born November 7, 1861 in Santa Ana (El Salvador); † July 11, 1906 in El Jícaro, Department of El Progreso, Guatemala ) was dated 13 November 1898 to March 1, 1903 President of El Salvador.

Life

The Regalado family is part of the Agujero de oro. Regalado was with his best friend Rafael Antonio Gutiérrez one of 44 conspirators Carlos Ezeta collapsed on 29 April 1894. On November 14, 1898, he deposed Gutiérrez and was even President. In 1899 he had himself elected for a four year term. He supported opponents of the regime of Manuel José Estrada Cabrera in Guatemala and gave them asylum. In his term the establishment of the Escuela Politécnica Militar and the start of construction of the Teatro Nacional in Santa Ana fell (El Salvador). He gave the construction of the railway thought. He had a Policía Rural Montada set, a predecessor of the Guardia Nacional.

In the Cabinet of his successor, Pedro José Escalón he was Minister of War.

In 1906 he led an army of El Salvador, which in the territory of Guatemala penetrated to. In a skirmish at El Entrecijo he was seriously injured and died on 11 June 1906.
