Tommi Kovanen

Tommi Kovanen ( born July 15, 1975 in Pieksämäki ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who is since 2011 in Tappara Tampere of the SM - liiga under contract.

Career

Tommi Kovanen began his career as a hockey player in the junior department of KalPa Kuopio, for the first team to 1997 he was active in 1993 in the SM- liiga, the top Finnish league. Then the defender played for three years for the Pelicans Lahti, with whom he also played after two seasons in the second-class I- divisioona and the subsequent rise in the 1999/2000 season in the SM- liiga. From 2000 to 2003 he ran for Mikkelin Jukurit in the new Finnish second division, the Mestis, on whose champion title he won in this period three times in a row. At the beginning of the season 2001/ 02 he joined first the SHC Fassa in the Italian Serie A1, before he returned to Jukurit.

From 2003 to 2006 was for the SM - liiga Kovanen participants JYP Jyväskylä on the ice before he finished the season 2005/ 06 in Fribourg- Gottéron in the Swiss National League A. With the team he reached the league in the relegation. Then he returned to JYP in the SM- liiga, which he left after 17 games during the 2006/07 season to join the League rival HIFK Helsinki joined, where he spent the next year and a half. From 2008 to 2010 he played in the SM- liiga for Lukko Rauma. The 2010/11 season began, the Finn at Jokerit Helsinki, with which he participated in the pre-season at the European Trophy. In December 2010 he was transferred within the Finnish capital to his former club HIFK Helsinki, with whom he won the Finnish championship in the playoffs. Players out on loan as he was also at one time for the second division Kiekko - Vantaa.
