Tommy Sjödin

Tommy Sjödin (* August 13, 1965 in Sundsvall ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player and current coach and - functionary, who in his active period from 1983 to 2008, including for the Minnesota North Stars, Dallas Stars and Nordiques de Québec in the National Hockey League has played.

Career

Tommy Sjödin began his career as a hockey player in the junior department of the Timrå IK, for the first team, he was from 1983 to 1986 in Division 1, the then second highest Swedish league, active. Then the defender moved to Brynäs IF, for which he ran aground in the next six years in the Elitserien. In the 1991/92 season he was awarded the Guldpucken player of the year in Sweden. In the 2009/10 season Sjödin worked as an assistant coach for his hometown club Brynäs IF. The following year he was head coach of the U18 Juniors of Valbo HC, he works at the seniors team since 2011 as head coach and general manager. In his first year he led the team from the fourth division Division 2 in the third-class Division 1

Internationally

For Sjödin Sweden took part in the World Championships 1992, 1994, 1995 and 1996. In addition, he was in the squad of his country at the Olympic Winter Games in Albertville in 1992. In the 1992 World Cup he won with his team the gold at the 1994 World Cup and the bronze at the 1995 World Championships silver medal. In the 1995 World Cup, he was also elected to the All-Star Team of the tournament.
