Tony Vidmar

Anthony " Tony" Vidmar ( born July 4, 1970 in Adelaide ) is an Australian former professional footballer Slovenian- Italian descent. He played mainly on the position of left-back. His brother Aurelio Vidmar was also a well-known football players.

Vidmar played from 1975 to 1995 except for a brief interruption in Adelaide City. In 1995 he decided to go to Europe and moved to NAC Breda in the Dutch Eredivisie. From 1997, he moved to English-speaking countries and then he played several years for Scottish and English clubs. After another stint with Breda 2005/ 06 he returned to Australia. In 2008, he finished his career with the Central Coast Mariners.

His career in the Australian national teams began in 1991 in the Australian U- 23rd A year later he was a member of the Australian Olympic team that finished fourth in the 1992 Olympic Games. Overall Vidmar played between 1991 and 2006 76 A- international matches for the Australian national football team, scoring three goals. His greatest achievement during this period was probably the third place with Australia in the Confederations Cup 2001.

Immediately after his active career, he took on an assistant coaching job at Adelaide United. 2009 he moved as a youth coach for the South Australian Sports Institute.
