Touillon-et-Loutelet

Touillon -et- Loutelet is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Touillon -et- Loutelet lies 1008 m above sea level, about 12 km south of the town of Pontarlier (air line). The village is located in the Jura, in a small valley in the headwaters of Bief Bleu, at the southern entrance to the Combe du Grand Essart, near the Col de Jougne and the border with Switzerland.

The area of ​​4.72 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The southern part of the area lies in the basin of Saint- Antoine and Métabief, which is drained by the Bief Bleu on Rouge Bief and thus to the Doubs. This basin is flanked to the east by the height of the Miroir, on with 1114 m the highest peak of Touillon -et- Loutelet is achieved. To the north, the municipality's area extends on the partly forested, partly planted with pasture ridge of the Pré Chapuis ( 1105 m), which separates the basin from the northern Lac de Saint-Point. With a narrow strip of communal land extends into the Combe du Grand Essart that follows a major fault line across the Jura, and to the intermittent source of Fontaine Ronde.

The double municipality comprises the two villages of Le Touillon (1012 m) and Le Loutelet (978 m), both located in the headwaters of Bief Bleu. Neighboring communities of Touillon -et- Loutelet are Montperreux in the north, Les Hôpitaux -Vieux and Les Hôpitaux - Neufs in the east, Métabief in the south and Saint- Antoine and Malbuisson in the West.

History

The village Touillon is first mentioned in the 14th century. Since the Middle Ages it belonged to the rule Joux, which controlled the traffic route from Pontarlier on the Col de Jougne in Switzerland. Together with the Franche- Comté came Touillon Le and Le Loutelet with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. Since the time of the French Revolution, the two towns were the double municipality Touillon -et- Loutelet. Since 1999 Touillon -et- Loutelet is a member of the comprehensive 19 villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Mont d' Or et des Deux Lacs.

Population

With 232 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Touillon -et- Loutelet one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 177 persons were still counted ), a significant population increase has been recorded since the mid-1970s again. Since then, the population has almost quadrupled.

Economy and infrastructure

Touillon -et- Loutelet has long been a predominantly coined by agriculture, especially dairy farming and animal husbandry, as well as by the forestry village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises, including a farm which produce cheese boxes, and a watch workshop. Meanwhile, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who do their work in the larger towns in the area and across the border in Switzerland.

Since the 1960s, when the area was expanded to Morond and Mont d' Or is a major winter sports area of the French Jura, also benefits Touillon -et- Loutelet from tourism. It's location in a holiday center.

The village is traffic- technically quite well developed. It is located near the main road N57, which runs from Pontarlier on the Col de Jougne to Vallorbe. Another road connection with Saint -Antoine.
