Tour of Qinghai Lake
The Tour of Qinghai Lake (Chinese环青海湖 国际 公路 自行车 赛, Pinyin Huan Qīnghǎihú Guoji Gonglu zixingche Sài ) is a Chinese bicycle race.
The stage race results, usually nine days from sections through the Chinese province of Qinghai. Fixed point is the Qinghai Lake, which is driven again and again. The first edition was held in 2002. Since the UCI Asia Tour launch in 2005, the tour is part of this series and classified in the highest category 2.HC. The top drivers of Asia here arguing mostly with young talents from Europe to victory. The Tour of Qinghai Lake is known for its particular altitude. Usually the stages lead over 2,000 m above sea level. The fifth stage of 2011 Xihaizhen by Mole ( Qilian ) led to 3,869 m where the lowest point on the last leg of 1,520 m above sea level has been reached.
So far, no cyclists could win the tour twice. Nor could decide the itinerary for a driver from a German speaking country.
