Translink (Northern Ireland)

Translink is the brand name of the Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company, the State Agency for public transport.

At Translink include the railway company Northern Ireland Railways and Ulsterbus the bus companies and the Belfast transport company Metro.

The Northern Ireland Transport Holding Company was amended by the Transport Act (NI) 1967 formed and then took over from the Ulster Transport Authority, the railway and bus operators, ie Northern Ireland Railways, Ulsterbus.

The Belfast Citybus transport company was incorporated in 1973. Citybus was renamed Metro 2005.

The common brand name Translink was introduced in 1996 to emphasize the integrated nature of the activities of the railway and bus companies.
