Tremezzo

Tremezzo is a municipality with 1252 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) on Lake Como. It belongs to the province of Como (CO ) of the Italian region of Lombardy.

The neighboring municipalities are: Bellagio, Grandola ed Uniti, Griante, Lenno, Lezzeno, Menaggio, and Mezzegra.

From 1928 to 1947 she was a member, together with Lenno and Tremezzo Mezzegra the community.

The city is located 60 km north of Milan and 20 km north-east of Como. Tremezzo is the ancestral home of the Frankfurt ( inter alia, Clemens Brentano and Bettina von Arnim ), the Binger ( inter alia, Lorenz Brentano ) and the Friedberger ( inter alia, Heinrich von Brentano ) line of the Brentano family.

Structures

The most famous building is the built since 1690 Villa Carlotta with its Italian park, last used in the second half of the 19th century as a summer residence of the House of Saxe -Meiningen and a museum since the expropriation as enemy property by the Italian State after World War II, the for his Skultpturensammlung is known.
