Tunisair Express is a Tunisian airline and a subsidiary of Tunisair.

History

It was created on 1 August 1991 as a regional airline under the name Tuninter. At the request of then-President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali was renamed in Sevenair, because of the number 7 on the basis of its accession to power on November 7, 1987, symbolically, on 7 July 2007. According to the Tunisian revolution, the airline was renamed again and since then as Tunisair Express known.

Incidents

  • On August 6, 2005 had to ditch in front of Sicily due to lack of fuel an ATR 72 of Tuninter on the way from Bari to Djerba. In this case, 16 people were killed. Cause of the lack of fuel was a day before built, unsuitable for this type of aircraft tank level indicator.
