Uganda Red Cross Society

The Ugandan Red Cross and the Uganda Red Cross Society ( URCS ) is the National Red Cross Society in Uganda in accordance with the Geneva Red Cross Convention, and as such part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Its general secretary is Robert Kwesiga. The organization employs 2001 129 full-time employees and had 150,000 members and volunteers.

History

The URCS was founded in 1964. In 1965, the organization became a member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
