Metro Station Uhland Street, opened in 1913, is the terminus of the U1 line of the Berlin U -Bahn in the district of Charlottenburg district of the Charlottenburg -Wilmersdorf. It is located under the Kurfürstendamm at the intersection with the Uhland Road. The outputs of the built in sub-surface location station are located on the center island of the Kurfürstendamm.

History

Metro Station Uhland Street is the terminus of the line U1. Originally, the station was built as the first station of a planned route to Hallensee. The course should begin at Wittenberg Platz Underground Station and run under the Kurfürstendamm in the west. These plans were, however, has not been realized. After the construction of the wall of the train station was a long time tail of the line 3, which consisted of only three stations: Wittenberg Platz, Kurfürstendamm and Uhland Street. A short train commute time in 10 -minute intervals between these stations, the rear part of the station was shut off. Only after the turn then the trains of line U15 drove back through to Warschauer Straße. This line was renamed on 12 December 2004 in "U1".

The metro station was opened on 12 October 1913. It is located in sub-surface layer and possessed initially at both ends a direct exit to the center island of the Kurfürstendamm. The station was shut down between November 1957 and 27 September 1961 as the construction of the subway line G (now U9 ) is a junction station was established at the intersection of Kurfürstendamm and Joachimstalerstraße. The operation of the route during construction was deemed unnecessary and simplified the construction process. A few years after commissioning of the new crossing station Kurfürstendamm, the eastern entrance to the station was closed on 5 March 1964. There was 1986-1999, the first fully electronic interlocking of the BVG. It has now been replaced by a more modern signal box.

After a fire in German Opera Metro Station, it was decided that each subway station BVG is to get two outputs. Thus, a relatively narrow access to the east was opened in May 2005. 2010, a glass elevator between platform and street level has been completed on the Kurfürstendamm - center island in the amount pheasant road construction costs amounted to 1.1 million euros.

Future

West of the station is a broad sweeping system. This should be part of the unrealized subway line to Hallensee. The continued construction of this route is indeed planned, but the beginning of the expansion is not yet due to the tight budgetary situation of Berlin in view. The nearest railway station on the route towards the west would be a new -to-build station Schlüterstraße.

Connection

The underground station provides a transfer possibility of the U1 line to the bus lines of the Berlin Transport Authority.
