Ulf "Tickan" Carlsson
Ulf " Tickan " Carlsson ( born April 2, 1961 in Falkenberg ) is a Swedish table tennis player. In the 1980s he was among the world leaders. He is world champion in doubles.
World Championships
From 1979 to 1989 Carlsson participated in all six World Cups. Here he was in 1985 in Gothenburg together with Mikael Appelgren world champion in a double by winning the final against Orlowski / Pansky, and Vice World Champion with the Swedish team. Also in the 1987 World Cup, he was with the team in second place.
European Championships
Between 1980 and 1988 Carlsson was nominated for five European Championships. In 1980, he won the final with the Swedish team against Germany and so was European Champion. He repeated this success at the European Championships in 1986, when he reached the doubles with Mikael Appelgren place 2.
Other international success
His best results in the European ranking tournament Europe TOP -12 were rank 4 (1986) and Rank 6 (1987). In the Europa League was inaugurated in 1986 with Sweden first.
Germany
Carlsson first played for the Swedish club Falkenberg's BTK. In 1980 he moved to German Bundesliga club TTC Simex Jülich, which in 1984 he won the European Champions Cup. In 1985 he returned to Sweden to BTK Falkenberg, later he played for clubs BTK BTK Lyckeby and Halmstad.
Coach
As of 1992, Ulf Carlsson coached the Swedish women's national team. In 1996, he succeeds by Sören Ahlen and became head coach of the Swedish men's national team.
Private
Ulf Carlsson married ( after 1999 ), the Swedish table tennis national team Åsa Svensson.
