Union for National Progress

The Union for National Progress ( Union for National Progress English, French Union pour le Progres national, symbol UPRONA ) is a nationalist political party in Burundi, which receives most of its support from members of the Tutsi people.

The party will be valued for their role in the Burundian independence, but was also the Unity Party of the country. It was founded in 1960 in the Kingdom of Burundi.

History

The most famous Prime Minister of the Union for national progress and national hero of Burundi 's Prince Louis Rwagasore ( murdered 1961). From that time until 1965 the party had also the support of the Hutu, and three of their Hutu members including Pierre Ngendandumwe, were Prime Minister of Burundi.
