Orientation

The UDUB sets itself above all as the party of stability represents and recalls their experience and the benefits of the governments established by it. Since its inception, it was perceived as the " ruling party". Its motto Nabad iyo caano ( "Peace and milk ") stands for peace in Somaliland, the party considered their performance. An actual ideology or a clear party program has the UDUB yet, but the emphasis on continuity and experience points to a conservative attitude.

Among their weaknesses, that it is also associated with unpopular ministers and political decisions. According to some it is doing too little to reach out to women and young voters. The two opposition parties Kulmiye and UCID also levy the charge that the UDUB will disproportionately much scope in the state media. In addition, to have been used government funds for the party.

Like the other parties, the UDUB clan politically neutral and has members and supporters from all clans. In previous elections it received in the regions of Awdal ( the field of Gadabursi - you, the clan of Dahir Kahin Riyale ) and Saaxil ( the home region of the Vice President ) most support.

Dahir Riyale Kahin was among the Somali president and dictator Siad Barre in the infamous National Security Service, perhaps he was responsible for human rights violations against the Isaaq population in northern Somalia in its local function. The largest opposition party Kulmiye - many of whose members had fought in the Isaaq SNM - rebel movement against the Barre regime - hence brings the UDUB with the former oppressors in conjunction.
