The Lower Steinach is a tributary of the Schorgast in Bavaria.

Course

The Lower Steinach arises from the confluence of the two source rivers slag Mühlbach and Big Rehbach. It flows through a deep narrow valley about 150 meters of the Franconian Forest, mostly in a south-westerly direction. After emerging from the mountains to the prominent Franconian line it passes through the city places Steinach Steinach and lower, where it flows into the Schorgast.

At the beginning of Engtalstrecke it passes the resulting epigenetic, 100 meters long Steinach gorge. It cuts through a rock barrier from Quarzkeratophyr, a very hard volcanic rock. The rocks above the other in powerful banks and contributed in past time on their summit on the right the Wildenstein Castle.
