Geography

Geographical location

The eponymous main village Untermünkheim is about five kilometers north of Schwäbisch Hall in the deep valley of the digester at the so-called Kochereck where the river bends namely from its northern course to the northeast. The Hall of coming, after a bridge, the village passing through federal highway 19 climbs here in continuation of its North run by a steep increase by the side of the blade Dobel Bach Hohenlohe level. Also in the Kocher are Obermünkheim something upstream at the inlet of the blacksmith Bach, downstream the coalesced with Untermünkheim Haagen and Enslingen. The municipality Untermünkheim in the area as of 31 December 1971 include the village Untermünkheim, the hamlet Haagen, Obermünkheim, Suhl castle and Wittighausen and the courts Eichelhof and Lindenhof and the Outbound village Breitenweidach.

History

Untermünkheim was first mentioned in 1216 as Muncheim documented. In the 16th century castles go, possessions and goods into the possession of the Imperial City Hall.

Incorporations

Personalities

The well-known carpenter family Roessler comes from Untermünkheim. Johann Heinrich Roessler (1751-1832) founded there a carpenter's workshop, who did carry the son of Johann Michael Roessler (1791-1849) from 1818. The other two sons born in Untermünkheim Johann Georg Roessler (1785-1844) and Johann Friedrich Roessler (1796-1863) established their own workshops in other places. The painted country furniture from the Roessler workshops are considered in style typical of Hohenlohe and the Haller surrounding areas.
