Upper Yafa

Upper - Jafa (Arabic يافع العليا, DMG yafi ʿ al - ʿ Ulyā, proper name in English Upper Yafa or State of Upper Yafa [A 3] ) is a historical state on the Arabian Peninsula, which belonged to the British Protectorate of South Arabia in 1903 and was incorporated in November 1967 to the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen.

History

The mountainous hinterland of Aden is occupied by the tribe of the Yafa'i, the upper and lower - Jafa formed in the 19th century two sultanates. Upper Yafa consisted of five Sheikdoms that were united in 1800 under the suzerainty of the Harhara Dynasty.
