Ursula Buckel

Ursula Buckel, née Müller ( born February 11, 1926 in Lauscha, † December 5, 2005 in Geneva) was a German soprano who celebrated international success as a song, oratorio and cantata singer, especially with works by Mozart, Haydn, Bach and Monteverdi.

Life and artistic career

Very early showed her musical talent, which was encouraged by his parents. She received training in vocal, organ and piano. In her native town she had sung in the church choir and worked as an organist. In 1948 the family moved to Konstanz. Her singing studies put the young soprano continues with Hans and Ria Hofflin broom. Soon she became a recognized concert and oratorio singer, who celebrated international success particularly as an interpreter of Bach, in collaboration with Karl Richter and the Munich Bach Choir. The artist sang in Switzerland, Italy, France, England, Finland, etc. She participated in the first official cultural exchange of the Federal Republic of Germany with the Munich Bach Choir in Moscow, Leningrad and Kiev in part. Ursula Buckel, who lived since 1954 in Geneva and was married to the Augenprothetiker Werner Buckel, sang only once on the operatic stage, in 1970, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni.

Since 1971 she taught as a singing teacher at the Music Conservatory in Geneva. Furthermore, Ursula Buckel held master classes in many European cities. Were a large part of their pupils famous singers / singer such as Barbara Schmidt- Gaden, Susanne Heyng, Andrea Short and Elke Burkert.

Numerous LP and CD recordings, among others, with Maria Stader, Hertha Topper, Edith Mathis, Kieth Engen, Dietrich Fischer- Dieskau and Peter Schreier, attest to its beautifully shaped voice. Uncountable are their television and radio performances.
