Vagit Alekperov
Vagit Jussufowitsch Alekperov (Russian Вагит Юсуфович Алекперов; aserb Yusif oglu Vahid Vahid Yusif oglu Ələkbərov or alternatively Äläkbärov, . Born September 1, 1950 in Baku, Azerbaijan SSR ) is a Russian businessman of Azerbaijani origin. He is the founder, largest shareholder and head of the oil giant Lukoil.
Alekperov grew up as the fifth child of a poor family Azerbaijani oil workers.
He was deputy oil minister of the USSR, when he started his oil empire in 1991.
According to the Forbes magazine Alekperov is the tenth richest man in Russia. At the international rankings he is ranked 122
