Valand School of Fine Arts

The Academy Valand (Swedish: Konsthögskolan Valand ), commonly called Valand, is a University of the Arts in Gothenburg, Sweden.

History

It was founded as the Gothenburg Drawing School in 1865 and is since 1977 part of the University of Gothenburg. The school is located in central Gothenburg at Vasagatan. Valand has about 70 students and since 2007 has been part of the Bologna process with a three-year bachelor 's degree in fine arts and a two-year Master's program in visual arts as well as Independent Studies and research opportunities. Only about 20 new students are accepted per year.

Every spring provide the students of the MFA graduating class together from the Gothenburg Art Gallery and other galleries. The school has two school-owned galleries, rotor and rotor 2
