Princess Valaya Along grain, Princess of Phetchaburi ( Thai: สมเด็จ พระ ราช ปิตุจฉา เจ้าฟ้า ว ไลย อลงกรณ์ กรม หลวง เพชรบุรี ราช สิริ น ธร, Somdet Phra Ratcha Pitutcha Chaofa Valaya Alongkorn Kromma Luang Phetchaburi Ratchasirindhorn; born April 16, 1884 in Bangkok, † February 15 1938 same place ) was a member of the Thai royal family and aunt of the reigning King Bhumibol Adulyadej since 1946 (Rama IX. ) of Thailand.

Youth

Princess Valaya Along grain was the 43rd daughter of King Chulalongkorn ( Rama V ) and the fifth child of Queen Savang Vadhana, which was one of four main women Chulalongkorn. At the age of three she was given by her mother in the care of Queen Saovabha Phongsri who had previously lost two daughters and a little later Valaya Alongkorn adopted. She was then trained at the Royal Kumari school. In 1896 she accompanied her father along with other princesses on his journey to Java, Singapore and Malaya. Beginning of the 20th century, she moved with her ​​father in the Dusit Palace. After his death she lived with her stepmother in Phayathai Palace.

Valaya Along grain was very early an avid reader. In addition, she loved crafts, such as knitting and the making of pearl necklaces.

On November 11, 1911 their king gave Vajiravudh (Rama VI. ) The title of Princess of Phetchaburi and Kromma Luang, the third highest title of nobility of Siam.

Later time

After Queen Saovabha Phongsri had died on 20 October 1919 Valaya Along grain moved to the Royal Villa Suan Sunandha order on the grounds of Dusit Palace. A year later she was consumptive and went for treatment to Europe. After her return, she lived with Queen Savang Vadhana in Srapathum Palace, but had they are often treated for complaints.

On February 15, 1938 Princess Valaya Alongkorn died in Bangkok from lung cancer.

Effect
