Valea Viilor

Valea Viilor ( German wormhole, Hungarian Nagybaromlak ) is a municipality in the district of Sibiu in Transylvania, Romania.

The place is also known by the former Romanian names Vorumloc or Vurmloc and the Hungarian Baromlaka.

Geographical location

Valea Viilor located in the northern part of the district of Sibiu. Riverside Vorumloc - a tributary of the Târnava Mare (Grand Kokel ) - is the town in a hilly landscape of Kokeltals. ( Judetean Drum ) On the county road DJ 142G is the place six kilometers south of the small town Copşa Mica; the county capital Sibiu is located about 50 kilometers south of Valea Viilor away.

History

Valea Viilor, originally Vorumloc was first mentioned under the name of Hungarian Baromlak 1224. Inherited in 1305 when the Hungarian Count Apafi the village to his son Gregory. The first located in Adel possession Transylvanian - Saxon village of hearing could later join the Media shear chair and thus be free.

( " Valley of the vineyards " German meaning) renamed to 1964, the place in Romania under the name derived from the German Vorumloc, then in " Valea Viilor ".

The highest population on the territory of the present municipality was established in 1977, which the Romanians in 2002, the Germans in 1941, the Hungarians in 2002 and the Roma in 1850. While on the territory of the municipality since the censuses from 1850 to 1941 about twice as many Germans as Romanians lived, lived in the village of Valea Viilor itself to about 1941 or less equally Transylvanian Saxons and Romanians.
