Valeria Spälty

Valeria Spälty (born 24 June 1983 Glarus ) is a Swiss curler. She plays for the Davos Curling Club.

Valeria Spälty began in 1992 with the curling sport. Already in the Junior Women, she gained first international experience, but was able to implement this until the elite medals.

At the 2004 European Championships in Sofia, the 2005 European Championships in Garmisch -Partenkirchen and the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin Spälty won the team playing each Ott silver. Valeria Spälty is the youngest Olympic medalist in curling. Spälty was Swiss champion 2002 ( Juniors), 2006, 2008, 2009.

At the World Championships in 2008 in the Canadian Vernon, she won the bronze medal together with teammates Janine Greiner, Carmen Schäfer and Mirjam Ott, in December 2008, the gold medal at the Curling Championships in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden.

Spälty is sports science and psychology student at the University of Bern and lives in Bern and Glarus.

After winning the Olympic silver medal in 2006 a road was renamed her in her local community Riedern honor. The Valeria Spälty -Strasse is located in the village center.
