Valsinni

Valsinni is a municipality in the province of Matera in the region of Basilicata.

In Valsinni 1612 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). The town is located 78 km south of Matera. The neighboring municipalities are Colobraro, Nocara ( CS), Noepoli (PZ ), Nova Siri, and San Giorgio Lucano Rotondella.

The town was founded in ancient times. The former name was Favale. After a landslide, the inhabitants fled to the valley (Italian Valle) of the river Sinni and founded Valsinni.

The Castello di Valsinni of Baron Morra the poet Isabella Morra lived.
