Vandenberg (Band)

Vandenberg was a Dutch Hard Rock band, named after the guitarist Adrian Vandenberg (Ad van den Berg, born 1954 in The Hague).

Band History

The band was born in 1981 out of the blues rock band Teaser, had worked at Vandenberg with vocalist Jos Veldhuizen, and in 1978 released an album. After Vandenberg had unsuccessfully auditioned for Thin Lizzy, the new line- up of teaser, with Adrian Vandenberg on guitar, Bert Heerink as a singer, Dick Kemper was born on electric bass and Jos Zoomer on drums. The demo brought the band, which now Vandenberg called himself a a recording contract with Atlantic Records.

The debut album was recorded in the studio of Jimmy Page, guitarist of Led Zeppelin. The song Burning Heart helped the band to break through in the U.S., where she accompanied, among others, Ozzy Osbourne and Kiss opening act on tour. As a headlining touring Vandenberg in Japan in 1984. From the second album Heading for a Storm the single Different Worlds was successfully decoupled. 1986 Heerink was released, the Demos successor Peter Struyk were but by the record company abgelehnt.Daraufhin the band broke up; Jos Zoomer and Peter Struyk joined Avalon, Dick Kemper founded No Exqze.

Adrian Vandenberg accepted an offer from David Coverdale, enter as a guitarist in Whitesnake, where he shortly after completion of the recordings for the successful album in 1987 became the successor of John Sykes, together with Vivian Campbell. To hear was Vandenberg therefore only as a guest soloist on the pre- recorded new single Here I Go Again. At the follow-up album Slip of the Tongue, the guitarist seemed due to an arm injury with only the songwriting. In 1994, Vandenberg along with Rudy Sarzo and Tommy Aldridge, the band Manic Eden, but he was back at the Whitesnake albums Greatest Hits (1994) and Restless Heart (1997) involved, as well as at the farewell tour in 1998 and the resulting Unplugged live album Starkers In Tokyo. Since 1999, the guitarist focused on his painting. For some documentaries from National Geographic, he composed the music.

In 2004, the band Vandenberg found together at a reunion, accompanied by the release of the double CD The Definitive Vandenberg. In January 2005, a DVD followed with a concert tour of Japan in 1984.
