Vasily Shukshin
Vasily Makarovich Schukschin (Russian Василий Макарович Шукшин, scientific transliteration Vasilii Makarovic Šukšin; born July 25, 1929 in Srostki, Siberia, † October 2, 1974 in Kletskaya near Volgograd) was a Russian writer, director and actor. He was a representative of the so-called "Sixties", an artistic movement of the 1950s and 1960s in the Soviet Union. In his work he aimed at, to portray the everyday life of ordinary people, especially in the Soviet village associated difficulties.
Life
Schukschin gained notoriety in the late 1950s as an author Siberian short stories, in which he recorded his experiences from the activities as a teacher on the collective farm and in the army. From 1954 to 1960 he studied under Mikhail Romm at the film WGIK in Moscow. Towards the end of his studies, he took over leading roles as a film actor.
