Veľká Lomnica

Velka Lomnica ( Slovak to 1927 " Lomnica "; German Großlomnitz or Großlomnica, Hungarian Kakaslomnic - to 1902 - Nagy Lomnicz ) is a municipality in the north-east Slovakia with 4289 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2011). It lies in the valley Podtatranská kotlina at the foot of the Tatra Mountains on the river Poprad, 6 km from Kežmarok and 9 km from Poprad.

The village was mentioned in writing in 1257 for the first time as Villa Lomnitza. The town has a station on the railway line Poprad - Plaveč.
