Veniamin Fleishman

Iosifovich Veniamin Fleischmann (Russian Вениамин Иосифович Флейшман, sometimes called Benjamin Fleischmann; * 7 Julijul / July 20 1913greg in Beschezk, .. † September 14, 1941 in Leningrad) was a Russian ( Soviet ) composer.

His unfinished posthumous opera " Rothschild's Violin " ( by Anton Chekhov ) was completed and orchestrated by his teacher Dmitri Shostakovich. The opera was first performed in 1968 under the direction of Maxim Shostakovich in Leningrad.

Veniamin Fleischmann fell in 1941 as a member of the People's brigade to the defense of Leningrad in the fight against the German siege.
