Vermilion Sands

Vermilion Sands ( German title The Thousand Dreams of Stella Vista) is the title of a collection of short stories by the author James Graham Ballard. She appeared in 1971.

Site of action is the fictional Vermilion Sands in Southern California, but the strikingly similar to Palm Springs. It is a fully automated resort in the desert.

The people are mostly disillusioned rich or opportunists from their environment, which greatly benefit from this.

The stories differ in the choice of media utopian shown. So there is in a singing statues, in another it is architecture. However, they are always to be particularly decadent, similar to the Baroque dar.

The individual titles come exclusively from Ballard and were at least partially been previously published.
