The Verwallgruppe ( ancient Ferwall, Vervall - and the like. ) Is a subgroup of the Central Eastern Alps in Austria. It is located in the provinces of Vorarlberg and Tyrol, between Bludenz and Landeck. The Tyrolean proportion is only slightly larger than the proportion of Vorarlberg.

The Verwall is an excellently suitable for the average hikers and climbers Mountains. In contrast to neighboring Silvretta the Verwallgruppe is glaciated low. A network of high-level trails allows multi-day tours from hut to hut. Several peaks tower over the three- thousand -meter limit. Many of the peaks have distinctive shapes. Especially the location in Vorarlberg part with its nature reserves is characterized by substantial originality and loneliness. The Tyrolean part has so far received no protection status and is threatened by development projects.

Geologically, the Verwallgruppe the Austroalpine crystalline zone, the outermost north-western part of the Northern Limestone Alps.

Adjacent Mountain Ranges

The Verwallgruppe bordered to the northwest by the Lechquellengebirge, on the northeast by the Lech Valley Alps, on the southeast by the Samnaun, Silvretta in the south and the Rätikon in the West.

Boundary

In the north, the Kloster forms the border of Bludenz to Stuben am Arlberg. From there it goes through the Arlberg pass to the punch valley to mountain meadow. There rivers meet Rosanna and Trisanna each other. The boundary to the south-east is the Paznaun of Wiesberg up to Galtür. In the south the Verwall is limited by the line between Galtür, the Zeinisjoch and partenen. In the southwest, the border runs along the Montafon between partenen and Bludenz.

The Arlberg Pass connects the Verwallgruppe with the Lech Valley Alps. The Zeinisjoch provides the connection to the Silvretta.

Adjacent valleys with valley villages selected:

  • Montafon Schruns, Sankt Gallen Kirch, gas churn with partenen
  • Paznaun: Galtür, Ischgl, Ischgl, Kappl, See

Subgroups

So you divide the triangle of Verwallgruppe in two more triangles.
