Vex at night

Vex is a municipality and the capital of the district Hérens in the French speaking part of the canton of Valais in Switzerland.

Geography

Vex is located on the western side of the valley of Dixence, a river of the Borgne, which flows from the south into the Rhone. The municipality consists of the villages Vex, Les Collons, Les Prasses, Thyon and Ypresses. Neighboring communities of Vex are in the north, the cantonal capital of Sion, in the East Mont- Noble, in the southeast of Saint- Martin, in the south Hérémence Nendaz in the southwest and west Les Agettes.

Attractions

Just outside the village, near the cemetery, is in the 12-13. Founded century church of Saint- Sylve located. The ship and the bell tower are partly Romanesque. The square chancel was rebuilt in 1498.

In the village some chalets are with decorated facades.
