Victor Bologan

Viktor (also Viorel ) Bologan ( born December 14, 1971 in Chişinău ) is a Moldovan chess champion of the world elite.

Life

Bologan learned the game of chess as a 7 -year-old from his father. Since 1981, he had a permanent coach, five years later the top coaches Tschebanenko took him under his wing. Bologan, who was a candidate master the age of 13, celebrated his first major success in 1989 Kramatorsk in the Soviet youth team championship when he achieved the best result on first board together with Boris Gelfand and Alexei Shirov. In 1990 he became International Champion; In 1991 he became Grand Master after tournament victories in Xanthi and in Jurmala at the tournament of the young Soviet masters. At the turn of 2001/ 02 Bologan won in Pamplona before Teymur Rəcəbov and Ulf Andersson, then in December 2002, also in Pamplona Four Masters tournament together with Rustam Kasimjanov.

2003, the biggest success he achieved in his career, when he won the Dortmund Chess Days ahead of Vladimir Kramnik, Viswanathan Anand and Péter Lékó. Previously Bologan won the Aeroflot Open in Moscow. In 2004, he was fifth in Wijk aan Zee, inter alia, Vladimir Kramnik, Evgeny Bareev, Pyotr Svidler and Alexei Shirov. In 2005 he again won the world-class tournament in Poikowski (together with Etienne Bacrot, before Alexander Grishchuk, Alexei Drejew and Pyotr Svidler ) and Sarajevo ( with Ivan Sokolov ). After this success his Elo rating improved for the first time at 2700 points.

In 2006 he was again tied for first at the Aeroflot Open in Moscow ( by Rating was Baadur Dschobawa winner) and won the rapid chess in Dresden porcelain cup with 9 from 9 Then he finished third in Foros (after Sergei Rublevsky and Vasyl Ivanchuk ). Since 1992 Bologan took part in Moldova for ten Chess Olympiads, in which he scored 62 points in 107 games. These were the Olympics in 1992, 1994, 1996, 1998, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012. 1992 and 2011 he played in the European Team Championship on top board of the Moldovan team.

Chess club

In the German Chess Bundesliga Bologan played from 1992 to 1999 the Dresdner SC (until 1994: Post SV Dresden) and plays since 2011 for the Chess Club Epping. In the British Four Nations Chess League, he played for the seasons 2001/ 02, 2004 /05 and 2005/ 06 for Wood Green, where he was in 2005 and 2006 British team champion. In the French team championship, he played until 2008 at the Club de la Tour Orcher Gonfreville, since for the Club de Mulhouse Philidor.
