Victor Mahl

Victor meal ( born October 28, 1889 in Twickenham, Middlesex, † April 2, 1915 in Southampton ) was one of the first English pilot and chief engineer at the Sopwith Aviation Company.

Life

After his studies in mechanical engineering, he was set in 1912 by Thomas Sopwith an engineer with the Sopwith Aviation Company newly established. On 14 May 1914 he received his pilot's license and became a test pilot for Sopwith. On April 20, 1914, designed by Victor grinding machine launched at the Schneider Trophy in Monaco, it was a seaplane variant of the Sopwith Tabloid. Meal had built a 100 -hp Gnôme Monosoupape radial engine and the pilot Howard Pixton won the Trophy with a new record for seaplanes. The aircraft reached a speed of 139.74 km / h

On April 2, 1915 during the test series for a new seaplane in Southampton, Victor meal passed away at the age of 25 of appendicitis.
