Vijay Anand (Hindi film maker)

Vijay Anand ( born January 22, 1934 in Gurdaspur, Punjab, † 23 February 2004 in Mumbai, Maharashtra ) was an Indian film director. He is the younger brother of Chetan and Dev Anand.

After a Bachelor of Bombay University, he wrote the screenplay for the shot by Chetan Anand film Taxi Driver ( 1954) with Dev Anand in the lead role. He made his directorial debut in Bollywood had Vijay Anand 1957. One of his greatest successes, both artistically and commercially, was Guide ( 1965) with Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman on a novel by RK Narayan. Vijay Anand was being awarded the Filmfare Award / Best Director. The following films Teesri Manzil ( 1966 Shammi Kapoor ), Jewel Thief (1967, with Vyjayantimala and Ashok Kumar ) and Tere Mere Sapne (1971 ) were also successful.
