Viktor Krovopuskov

Viktor Alekseyevich Krowopuskow (Russian Виктор Алексеевич Кровопусков; born September 29, 1948 in Moscow) is a former Soviet saber fencer. He won four gold medals at the Olympics: two in singles, twice with the saber team.

Career

Viktor Krowopuskow began fencing at the age of 13 years at the Children's and Youth Sports School in Moscow, where he was initially trained by Igor Chernyshev. Between 1973 and 1986 he was part of the Soviet national team. With the Summer Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976 Krowopuskow won the gold medals in singles and with the saber team. Four years later, at the 1980 Summer Olympics in his hometown of Moscow, he was able to defend both Olympic victories.

He won seven World Championship titles: in 1974 in Grenoble, 1975 in Budapest, 1979 in Melbourne, 1983 in Vienna and 1985 in Barcelona with the saber team, as well as in Hamburg in 1978 and 1982 in Rome in singles. 1976 Krowopuskow was the Order of the Red Banner of Labor awarded the Order of Lenin in 1980.
