Vinnie Colaiuta

Vincent Colaiuta ( born February 5, 1956) is an American drummer. He participated in the studio works of many artists and is considered one of the most influential drummers of our time.

Career as a musician

Besides the drums Vinnie Colaiuta learned earlier also guitar and organ. He attended for one year the Berklee College of Music in Boston, then moved to Los Angeles and played in clubs and bars drums. In April 1978, he was hired after an audition with Frank Zappa as a studio and live drummer. He worked for Frank Zappa, among others, on the albums Joe 's Garage, Tinsel Town Rebellion and Shut Up 'N Play Yer Guitar, which helped him to break through in the music business. It struck him credit, he feels comfortable in many styles of music, for example in the areas of pop, rock, country, jazz, blues and metal. A producer is reported to have told him to drafts Tony Williams and Steve Gadd in a blender, so Vinnie Colaiuta came out.

After leaving Zappa in 1980, Vinnie Colaiuta played with various artists together, including Jeff Beck, Joni Mitchell, Barbra Streisand, Chaka Khan and Robben Ford

Collaboration with Sting

In 1990, Colaiuta was taken after a successful audition in the touring band from Sting to promote the then current album The Soul Cages. Colaiuta then stayed with Sting and played with him the album Ten Summoner 's Tales Mercury Falling and a. He can also be heard on the CDs Brand New Day and Sacred Love. In September 2003, Colaiuta reunited with Sting to present live with him the album Sacred Love. Then he turned down the offer, even on the world tour by Sting to be there. Since the end of October 2011 Vinnie Colaiuta occurs after about fifteen years back on with Sting on the Back to Bass Tour live.

Equipment

From 1997 to 2012 Colaiuta Gretsch Drums played on the custom built for him, " Vinnie Colaiuta Signature " series with mostly originating from Remo skins. From the beginning of his career he played Zildjian cymbals exclusively, in their development, he was involved, and sticks the same company. He also used DW Drum Pedals. He also uses Remo drumheads. In April 2012, Vinnie Colaiuta switched to Ludwig drums and Paiste cymbals.
