Life

Viola Elisabeth of Cieszyn came from the Opole Silesian branch of the Piast dynasty. Her father was Duke Mieszko I of Cieszyn, name origin and her mother are not known.

1305 Viola Elisabeth was with the Czech king Wenceslas III. married, who was murdered on August 4, 1306 in Olomouc. Since the marriage remained childless, went out with him the Přemyslovci in the male line.

The young widow remained in Prague in the company of three other young women who are queens were later: the 18-year Richza of Poland, the 16- year-old Anna of Bohemia and the 14 -year-old Princess Elizabeth. Before 1315 she married Peter I. von Rosenberg, who was one of the most powerful Bohemian nobles. But on September 21, 1317 Viola died. Her body was interred in the family vault in the Rosenberg Hohenfurth monastery.
