Virna Lisi

Virna Lisi ( born September 8, 1936 in Ancona, Marche, actually Virna Lisa Pieralisi ) is an Italian actress.

Life

Lisi began her film career in 1953 in the film Canta Napoli e. By 1963, she turned only in their home country in 1964 was followed by the first films in Hollywood among other things on the side of Frank Sinatra ( attack on the Queen Mary ), Jack Lemmon ( How to Murder Your Wife? ) And Tony Curtis ( Stay away from my wife ). In the late 1960s Lisi returned to Italy and turned again mainly there. In later years came to film dramas such as Liliana Cavani's Beyond Good and Evil ( 1978), Alberto Lattuada's La Cicala (1980) and Luigi Comencinis Gino & Elvira - Old love does not rust (1989 ) more and more character roles on Lisi to for which they the praise of the Italian critics and was awarded several awards in their homeland. When one of her greatest successes, however, applies the role of Catherine de Medici in Patrice Chéreau's period drama Queen Margot (1994 ), for which she was awarded both the French film award César and the Best Actor Award at the Film Festival of Cannes 1994.

2009 Lisi received a David di Donatello for her life's work.
