Vitaly Mutko

Vitaly Leontyevich Mutko (Russian Виталий Леонтьевич Мутко; born December 8, 1958 in Kurinskaja, Rajon Tuapse, Krasnodar region ) is a Russian politician and football official. He's since May 2008 Russian Minister of Sports, Tourism and Youth Policy, and since 2009 a member of the FIFA Executive Committee. In addition, he was president of Zenit St Petersburg (1995-2003), the Premjer League (2001-2003) and the Russian Football Union (2005-2009), Vice- Mayor of St. Petersburg (1992-1996) and a member of the Federation Council (2003-2008 ).

Mutko began his political career as many current Russian politicians of the era Putin / Medvedev after studying in Leningrad in the local city government. In 1979 he was picked up by the CPSU. In 1990, he became president of the Soviets in 1991 and head of the administration of Rajons Kirov, before he was taken in 1992 in the government of the city of Saint Petersburg as vice mayor. In the same year he was elected to the board of Zenit St Petersburg, 1995, as President; during his time, he could win Gazprom as a sponsor of the club and this lead from the second division in the European Cup.

Mutko part of the Supervisory Board of the Organising Committee for the Olympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi.
