Viviana Sofronitsky

Viviana Sofronitsky (Russian Вивиана Владимировна Софроницкая, Wiwijana Vladimirovna Sofronizkaja; * in Moscow) is a Russian -Canadian pianist.

Life

Viviana Sofronitsky was born in Moscow, the daughter of Russian pianist Vladimir Vladimirovich Sofronizki. She began studying music at the Central Music School in Moscow and received a Ph.D. at the Moscow Conservatory. In the Soviet Union, she worked together with the ensemble " Madrigal " and the " Chamber Music Academy " under the direction of Alexei Lubimow, and entered at the same time as a solo pianist in Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev, Minsk, Sverdlovsk on.

In 1989 she went to the U.S. to work at Oberlin College in Ohio. In 1990 she moved to Canada, where in Toronto she continued her work with performances and recordings and worked with various members of the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra. They founded the concert series of the " Academy Concerts" with in Toronto and was its first artistic director.

Since 1994, Viviana Sofronitsky is a Canadian citizen.

In the Netherlands, she continued her musical studies in 1999 and made statements in historical performance practice in the areas of harpsichord, fortepiano and teaching early music at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.

Since 2001 she has lived in the Czech Republic and is married to Paul McNulty fortepiano builder. She plays mostly on the instruments built by him. Her repertoire in concerts and recordings ranging from CPE Bach to Liszt.
