Vladimir Sasimovich

Uladzimir Sassimowitsch (White Russian Уладзімір Сасімовіч, English transcription Uladzimir Sasimovich, also Russian Владимир Сасимович - Vladimir Sassimowitsch - Vladimir Sasimovich, . Born 14 September 1968) is a former White Russian javelin thrower.

He represented his country in athletics following major events:

  • Two Olympic Games: Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000
  • Five World Athletics Championships 1991 in Tokyo, 1993 in Stuttgart, 1995 in Gothenburg, 1997 in Athens and 1999 in Seville

As well as

  • Two European Athletics Championships 1994 in Helsinki and 1998 in Budapest.

However, a medal he won in only his first international appearance in Tokyo, where he was lucky that his only valid final throw landed at 87.08 meters - a distance that it behind the two Finns Kimmo Kinnunen ( gold with 90.82 m) and Seppo Räty ( silver with 88.12 meters ) earned the bronze medal.

Uladzimir Sassimowitsch won four national championships: one for the Soviet Union (1991, 84.46 m) and three for Belarus: 1997 ( 75.14 m ), 2000 ( 84.42 m) and 2003 ( 79.43 m)
