Attempts are often made to derive the name from the Celtic, for example, from aha ( Ache river) and fehil (fish ) or foecke ( Torch ), the latter based on torches that were lit as a signal fire on top of hills. Also possible, however, that the name has only formed at the time of the Bavarian colonization from the personal name Veckilo.
