Volare SpA (formerly also Volareweb.com ) is an Italian airline based in Milan and a subsidiary of Alitalia. You currently flies exclusively on their behalf and route network.

History

First years as Volare Airlines

Volare Airlines was founded in 1997 by a group of northern Italian entrepreneurs in Thiene and took on 3 April 1998 the charter flight operations with aircraft of type Airbus A320. Within a short time the route network could be extended to various destinations in Western and Central Europe and the Mediterranean. Due to good business performance, it was decided in 1999 to offer scheduled flights, especially between the Italian mainland and Sardinia. From the hub in Venice, Milan and Rome was offered soon to scheduled flights to several destinations in Italy and Europe.

In August 2000, the Volare Group Holding was founded, under whose umbrella beside Volare Airlines also the newly acquired charter carrier Air Europe worked.
