Volkenschwand
Volkenschwand is a municipality in the district of Kelheim, Lower Bavaria, and a member of the administrative community Main Castle.

Geography
Volkenschwand is located in the south-east of Main Landshut Castle. The German Alps Holiday Get - Baltic performs Volkenschwand, near which rises the Great Laber.
There are the following districts: Großgundertshausen, Leiber village, Volkenschwand.

History
The village Volkenschwand probably goes back to a foundation of the monastery of Weihenstephan in the Romanesque period. Volkenschwand belonged to Rentamt Landshut and Moosburg district court of the Electorate of Bavaria. Created in 1818 the municipality Volkenschwand.
Incorporations
The former municipalities Großgundertshausen ( until 1865 Großquantertshausen ) and Leiber village was incorporated on January 1, 1978. Parts of the municipalities of Graf village ( district of Freising ) and Martin Zell ( Landkreis Landshut ) came in the course of municipal reform them on 1 May 1978.
Population Development
On the territory of the municipality were 1961 1.491, 1970 1.450, 1987, 1384 and 2000 counted 1,522 residents a year. At the end of 2011, there were 1,680 inhabitants.

The municipal tax revenue amounted to the equivalent of € 636,000 in 1999, which amounted to the trade tax revenues ( net) converted € 132,000.
Culture and sights
Structures
- Parish church of St. Giles is mentioned in documents since 1432. In the year 980 the name first appears in documents.
- St. Mary's Chapel Volkenschwand was donated by George and Maria Kolmeder and built in 1947/1948 by the construction company Katzl, Main Castle. In the chapel are memorial plaques with the names of war victims of the Second World War the church.

Economy, agriculture and forestry
It was in 1998 according to official statistics in the field of Agriculture and Forestry 34, 109 in manufacturing and in trade and transport 41 persons work at the workplace. In other areas, 28 people were employed social insurance at the workplace. Social insurance contributions at residence, there were a total of 471 in the manufacturing sector, there were ten, five companies in the construction industry.
