VOLMET

VOLMET (French vol = flight ) are meteorological information for aircraft in flight.

The sound recordings transmitted in English contain the METAR ( space weather trend), TAF (forecast) and SIGMET ( warnings) from selected airports of the region and to be renewed every half hour.

The information is transmitted on frequencies reserved by stations of the aeronautical mobile service. In some cases it is also possible, VOLMET listen on the phone (e.g., Zurich LSZH 41 43 816 22 91 ).

Germany is in accordance with the Air Navigation Plan ( ANP), the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO ), Part 6 requires to emit VOLMET.

The Automatic VOLMET broadcasting ( AVAS ) takes over in Germany the German Air Traffic Control (DFS ), which operates the transmission facilities in Bremen, Berlin and Frankfurt am Main in the frequency ranges of the aircraft radio service. The supply of METARs done by the German Weather Service ( DWD).
