VSR V8 Trophy

The British SCSA ( Stock Car Speed ​​Association) is the organizer of the eponymous series of touring car race ( Stock Car ). It draws on the concept of marketed very successfully in the U.S. NASCAR series, the race will also be carried out almost exclusively on oval tracks.

History

Goods high-speed race tracks uncommon until 2000 in Europe, the situation changed with the opening of the Euro Speedway Lausitz and the Rockingham Motor Speedway in Corby English. Then, the SCSA was established, based at the oval track of Rockingham in 2001.

First, the racing series operated under the name " NASCAR " and was very similar to the successful U.S. counterpart. Followed in 2003 by the renaming of the championship in Days of Thunder Series. A face-off ceremony on the movie Days of Thunder with Tom Cruise. But already on 20 November followed in 2004 with the SCSA of being the last name.

In the years 2002 and 2003 presented the series in Germany on the Euro Speedway Lausitz. Due to financial problems and lack of interest from spectators and teams drove the series in 2004 but only in native Rockingham. By winning a new main sponsor in 2007, the series with SCSA MAC Tools V8 Trophy was again given a new name. In the following year, the orientation of the racing series was rethought and now included in addition to oval racing tracks and normal courses in the racing calendar. Here, the VSR V8 Trophy now renamed series continued to focus heavily on the UK, only a championship run in the French Croix -en- Ternois is an exception.

During the winter break of 2008/2009 previously discharged as a rival racing series Belgian Championship CAMSO merged with the VSR V8 Trophy. For this purpose, was launched and did not continue the old national series with European Late Model a new series.
